Craft & Style
This guide is meant for advanced users. There are many things you can do with Oravia, perhaps uniquely so, but they may be confusing if you approach it as a beginner. Proceed with care.
What makes Oravia so expressive? It has multiple layers of both freedom and control: it allows you to be creative and flexible in your choices, but also gives you a toolkit to play with. When it comes to grammar, we have things like flexible word order, evidentiality, the emphasis marker, and much more. In this style guide, we introduce things like register, speech-act force, emotional texture, cluster connotation, sarcasm, scope, contrast and poetic sound-symbolism.
Much of its expressiveness comes from the small system being reusable across grammar, discourse, style, and word formation. In sum, in line with the guiding principle of Oravia, it can express a wide range of flavors with a light load.
Such a focus on expression is not common among auxlangs. But I strongly believe that to be a full language, it must be able to communicate and reflect the human experience.
Most stylistic choices are either optional or can be derived naturally through use. If you'd like to check the foundations of the grammar and start speaking, check the Core Grammar or the Core Course.
