MI CLUSTER
Today we will learn one of my favorite clusters, *MI!
| Oravia | English |
|---|---|
| miau | cat |
| micuc | chicken |
| miopi | fox |
| miwo | dog |
| mihie | horse |
| miotan | elephant |
| micea | rabbit |
What do you think the MI cluster is about?
<div style="text-align: center; margin: 2rem 0;">
These can also be used as verbs or adjectives, based on common cross-linguistic associations:
| Oravia | English |
|---|---|
| miau | cat, graceful |
| micuc | chicken, coward |
| miopi | fox, cunning |
| mihie | horse, endurance, stamina |
| miotan | elephant, good memory, remember |
| micea | rabbit, skittish |
So for example, if one says "I'm elephant", it means "I have a good memory". Or, if they say "I cat into the house", it would mean something like "I enter gracefully in the house"!
There is another cluster for animals that we will learn later. Today's MI cluster is for bigger animals, and the other cluster is for smaller animals like insects and rodents.
